“Discussion” – my favorite strip from the comic, encapsulating the comic and leading character, Ernesto (the bear) – as well as interactions on social media
(19) REZA FARAMUND –
POORLY DRAWN LINES (2008 – PRESENT)
An episodic comic strip, with each episode a self-contained gag, although with recurring animal characters (particularly Ernesto the bear) – typically absurdist or satirical in tone and usually snarky.
“The comic features a large and diverse cast of humans and animals who freely interact with each other. Much of the humor is nonsensical and surreal, often featuring the characters making an unexpectedly big deal out of minor inconveniences and reacting normally to ridiculous threats.”
Ernesto and the comic are pretty much summed up by my favorite strip about having a polite discussion that I used for my feature image – which also encapsulates many interactions on social media.
It’s developed into a franchise, with the publication of compilations or other related books, as well as an animated series.
