But wait – there’s more!

Not only do the ship girls of Azur Lane keep coming (and keep getting new skins), but so too does one of my two foremost criteria for special mention – Azur Lane cosplay by my favorite cosplay model Yummychiyo! Azur Lane cosplay is something of her speciality, both in being close to the majority (if not the majority) of her cosplay and in having more prolific Azur Lane cosplay than other models.

Indeed, I’m pretty that her Azur Lane cosplay is up there with the very first cosplay through which I first discovered her – although perhaps second only to her signature cosplay of Asuna from Blue Archive.

So prolific is her Azur Lane cosplay that despite already having cosplay for TWENTY-FIVE of the girls of Azur Lane I’ve featured elsewhere – a whopping nine of my Top 10 Girls of Azur Lane, three of the  fourteen Race Queens beyond my top ten, and thirteen of twenty general special mentions – often in multiple skins or variants, she has even more cosplay for fifteen further special mentions just for her cosplay. Which would make a grand total of forty Azur Lane cosplays – and counting, particularly as I’ve probably missed a few!

As far as I can tell, Yummychiyo has done a variant of Azuma’s default skin – which I would agree is her top skin.

As for Azuma herself, she’s in a class of her own as supercruiser or large cruiser, a planned design that was never constructed in history.

Yummychiyo has done cosplay of two Amagi skins – the two Amagi skins that aren’t the default or standard skin, firstly the Wending Waters Serene Lotus summer skin and secondly the Red Kite Respite party skin (or a version of it).

As for Amagi herself, there are actually two versions of her character, as she has an alternative carrier version – which I think is based on her design essentially being a sister ship to Akagi. Both have no historical counterpart as construction never finished due to the Washington Naval Treaty.

As far as I can tell, Yummychiyo did cosplay of Musashi’s default or standard design, as well as an Race Queen design original to Yummychiyo (as far as I can tell).

As for Musashi, her historical counterpart was a Yamato-class battleship – perhaps the most famous Japanese battleship design, particularly for the namesake flagship of the class. Musashi was sunk during the Battle of Leyte Gulf by multiple torpedo or bomb hits from American carrier aircraft.

Maid Yummychiyo!

Yummychiyo did cosplay of Noshiro’s Hold the Ice or maid skin.

As for Noshiro, her historical counterpart was an Agano-class cruiser that was constructed in World War Two, seeing active service in a few Pacific War naval battles until being sunk by US naval aircraft in the naval battles around the Philippines in October 1944.

She has proved a popular character in the game, with her two-horned design clearly based on an oni – if her eleven skins are anything go to by (including her muse version).

It’s Yummychiyo – of course she was going to rock the swimsuit or summer cosplay!

As for Yorktown’s historical counterpart – no, it’s not the famous one sunk at the Battle of Midway (and  the flagship of the Yorktown class of carriers). It’s the one named for the famous one sunk at the Battle of Midway (and hence a reincarnation of that ship), also constructed during the Second World War as one of the Essex class of carriers. It was actually the fourth ship of that name, with the preceding three being named for the Battle of Yorktown in the American Revolutionary War.

The fourth Yorktown saw out the Second World War, recommissioned and serving in both the Korean and Vietnam War as well as a dignified “retirement” as a recovery ship for the space program, featuring in films (“Tora! Tora! Tora!” and “The Philadelphia Experiment) and finally a museum ship.

Something of an unexpected dark horse among Eagle Union ship girls, Kearsage saw Yummychiyo cosplay her default or standard skin.

That’s pretty impressive as she has no actual counterpart in history, instead being based on a design that never saw construction – a unique aviation battleship design (and hence not named for a state).

Yes – it’s more Yummychiyo standout swimsuit cosplay, although Formidable has the rare distinction of Yummychiyo cosplaying more than one skin, with the other being the Rockin’ Encore bunny skin. It doesn’t get much better than that – Yummychiyo swimsuit AND bunny cosplay!

As for her historical counterpart, Formidable was one of the Illustrious-class carriers that survived the war with distinguished service in nearly every naval theater – the Home Fleet, the Mediterranean (Battle of Cape Matapan, invasions of Sicily and Italy), the Indian Ocean as part of the Eastern Fleet (Battle of Madagascar), Operation Torch landings in north Africa, and Pacific Fleet (helping the American navy at Okinawa and the Japanese home islands before repatriating prisoners of war).

She also is one of the lucky Azur Lane characters to score two sets of Yummychiyo cosplay – Yummychiyo has done cosplay of her default maid design as well as (of course) her summer or swimsuit Summery Date skin.

Speaking of her historical counterpart, if I’ve got this right, Cheshire was a passenger line ship (one of five such ships consecutively named Cheshire) converted to an armed merchant cruiser then to a troopship.

Mogador has some mighty big guns for a destroyer but I guess that explains the Yummychiyo cosplay of her Locker Room Lechery summer skin – a swimsuit design so racy that the censored version which I dare only feature here depicts her wrapped in a towel.

Sadly her historical counterpart existed – named for the Moroccan town – but was first damaged in the British attack on Mers-el-Kebir and then scuttled (after being repaired) at Toulon.
